International Alliance for Interoperability - IAI
Improving communication, productivity, delivery time, cost, and quality throughout the whole building life cycle. Providing a universal basis for process improvement and information sharing in the construction and facilities management industries. Building on the collective knowledge of the global construction and facilities management industries to define Industry Foundation Classes.
Graphisoft is a member of the International Alliance for Interoperability (IAI) since 1996, paying close attention to adhering to its Industry Foundation Classes (IFC). For users, this means that they can safely work in ArchiCAD without fear of being isolated from consultants, clients or other specialists using other software. Industry-wide and continuous sharing of information between CAD (and non-CAD) applications for the life cycle of the building is the goal of the IFC. For more information on IFC please read our Policy and References sections. You can find the latest IFC I/O add-ons in our IFC Download section.
Continual research and development in Interoperability is an inherent aspect of Archicad. New alliances are forged as an ongoing program which allows different disciplines to share the rich data model. The result is a better coordination and faster turnaround between architects, consultants and builders.
