Our inaugural Thought Leadership Forum has just completed for 2008.  Judging on the feedback so far it has been a stunning success with the highlights being the keynote address on the first morning and the BIM Forum in the last session.

We are very pleased to announce that Dominic Gallello, the President & CEO of Graphisoft in Hungary will be with us to deliver the keynote address at the Graphisoft Thought Leadership Forum on Building Information Modeling (BIM). Mr. Gallello has a long track record of helping to shape some of the major trends in the design software industry. Prior to Graphisoft, Dominic spent approximately 20 years in various executive positions at Autodesk and Intergraph and brings a unique perspective to customer requirements and possibilities.

"The Virtual Building - The Future of Cutting Edge Building Design".  Greg has spoken on this topic extensively in 2007 through the RAIA "Refuel" National Seminar Series.  This talk is focused on describing the possibilities for 3D or virtual engineering design an the building industry now, what is new & cutting edge, and what can be expected to come next that will change the way we design buildings in the future.  A perspective from one of the most well known engineering firms in the world.
   
Scott Henderson Scott Henderson
Associate & CAD Manager - Woods Bagot
Over the past eight years, Scott has played a significant role in many major projects undertaken by the Woods Bagot including commercial,  residential and interiors projects.  In addition to his  work as part of documentation teams and in CAD management, he also provides training in software packages such as photoshop and graphic overview services for marketing and project purposes.  As a long term user of ArchiCAD at the top of his profession, Scott will be sharing his experiences managing and implementing BIM in a global organisation.

With a career spanning fifteen years Hugo has worked alongside Australia's most elite designers at Woods Bagot, Rice Daubney, Suters, MMA and most recently ML Design on projects up to $700m.   As ML Design's newly appointed CAD Manager, Hugo is further enhancing his design and technical prowess by revolutionising CAD and its inherent application in modern architecture.

Associate Professor, Faculty of the Built Environment, University of NSW
John is the Chairman of the IAI Australia & New Zealand Chapter, as well as a Deputy Vice-Chairman of the International body of the IAI, the organisation that has developed an open standard - IFC - for sharing BIM (building information model) data.   He will be sharing on the many recent developments relating to IFC and the Construction Industry.
   
Ben Cohen Ben Cohen
CAD Manager - Blueprint Homes
Ben will demonstrate how his firm's existing ArchiCAD models have been used to extract huge amounts of usable data and also how GDL has enabled them to measure the ArchiCAD model in a way that reflects Blueprint homes existing methods.
   
Andrew Swenson Andrew Swenson
Principal - In4D
Andrew has extensive experience in producing documentation from very efficient models in particular undertaking large size projects as the sole project member.  He will covering such issues as:
  • Ensuring proper communication between outsourcer and the Project  Architect.
  • providing continuously up-to-date data to the consultants ('backgrounds' vs. layouts)
  • Using  the documentation model to provide design feedback & varification on issues like sun  studies, 3D VR's.  
  • Value adding to the project and getting paid for it.
  • Returning from last year's conference and wanting to update the project to the latest version to take advantage of features which improve the workflow.
   
Simon Taylor Simon Taylor
Technology Manager - Gardner Wetherill
"Treat your model with respect and it will work for you!"
Simon will be sharing his office's experience with a private education project and the difficult process of involving stakeholders and also fundraising using primarily a model but also including other sources.  This project also started in v8 and has been successively transferred through versions to v11.  Simon is a long term passionate and committed ArchiCAD user with many years experience in large and medium sized practices.
