MRA Design

"Compared to the previous 2D platform we ran, there is no comparison"

MRA was an early adopter of design technology, but quickly moved from 2D CAD to ArchiCAD 9 in 2005. They now use Version 14 and are looking forward to Version 15’s new features. To say ArchiCAD is important to the firm’s work might well be an understatement. ArchiCAD is mentioned prominently on their web site. “We aim always to be at the cutting edge of building innovation and technologies” says Michael.

MRA Design

For MRA Design, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, it’s all about aesthetics. However, although aesthetic principles are at the foundation of everything they do, they’re balanced by a clear vision of practicality and possibility. Flexible spaces, materials chosen for their practicality, simple elegance and raw beauty, with passive design features that work to maximise natural climate control, were integral to MRA’s distinctive style.

Case Study Overview

“Using ArchiCAD, we’re completing drawings of a significantly higher quality and in more detail compared with 2D,” says Michael. “Productivity and profitability are considerably enhanced and we don’t have to outsource 3D renderings.”

“Recently, we completed a display home for a builder to showcase the benefits of site specific sustainable design with a strong emphasis on aesthetics. The project was intended to fill a void in a market saturated with project homes. After six months of design and collaboration, the project was completed exactly as envisaged.”
